Zayn joins the British Asian Trust as an Official Ambassador

The British Asian Trust is delighted to welcome Zayn Malik, a member of the chart topping and BRIT Award winning group One Direction, as an official Ambassador for the Trust.

One Direction have achieved worldwide stardom; their achievements include two BRIT Awards and four MTV Video Music Awards among many others. After the release of their latest album, Midnight Memories, One Direction became the first band in US Billboard 200 history to have their first three albums debut at No. 1. The album was also a global success, debuting at No 1 on the UK Albums Chart and became the fastest and biggest selling album of 2013 in the UK.

Zayn joins fellow British Asian Trust Ambassadors Naughty Boy, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Dev Patel, Mishal Husain, Laila Rouass, Preeya Kalidas, Nitin Ganatra and Nina Wadia to name a few.

The British Asian Trust is celebrating a successful few months that included the Trust’s President, HRH The Prince of Wales recent visit to South Asia. During his time in India, The Prince visited a number of projects his Trust supports, allowing him to visualise for himself how supporter funds are used to transform the lives of the Trust’s beneficiaries.

The British Asian Trust Dinner, which will be attended by The Prince of Wales, is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 5 February at The Victoria and Albert Museum. A number of the Trust’s Celebrity Ambassadors will be present. Entertainment for the evening will come from Ambassador Naughty Boy and his guest performer and Brit Award winning artist, Emeli Sandé.

The Trust provides funding to support high impact charities within the areas of education, health and livelihoods in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The dinner will raise funds for a number of projects that the Trust supports in these countries. Since the Trust was established, it has touched the lives of 1 million disadvantaged people, over the next five years it aims to reach a further 2 million people.
